Softball Recap: PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Drops Season-High Score on Hartsburg-Emden

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Hartsburg-Emden Stags a 19-0 shutout on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Mackenzie Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Aubrey Vogel and Avery Sergent did most of the damage at the plate: Vogel went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI, while Sergent went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Sergent a new career-high. Regan Heubner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
