Football Recap: Staunton/Bunker Hill's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

If Staunton/Bunker Hill was riding high fresh off their 59-24 takedown of Litchfield/Mt. Olive last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs came up short against the Carlinville Cavaliers on Friday, falling 40-17. The game was a close 17-14 at the break, but unfortunately for the Bulldogs it sure didn't stay that way.

Despite the loss, Staunton/Bunker Hill still got an impressive performance from Nate Oller, who rushed for 221 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries. Oller is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 206 every time he's taken the field this season.

Carlinville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Triston Thompson, who picked up 68 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground. Another player making a difference was Kip Reels, who threw for 148 yards and a pair of TDs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Staunton/Bunker Hill fell to 3-1. As for Carlinville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Staunton/Bunker Hill has already played their next matchup, a 44-22 loss against Hillsboro on the 26th. As for Carlinville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-21 win against North Mac on the 26th.
