Baseball Game Preview: Fairview Yellowjackets vs. Montgomery Central Indians

The Fairview Yellowjackets will challenge the Montgomery Central Indians at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Fairview turned things around against Hume-Fogg on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Blue Knights.

Fairview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Holder, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI. Another was Logan Phillips, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Montgomery Central hadn't done well against Dickson County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Montgomery Central won by a run and slipped past Dickson County 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 24, 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Montgomery Central and bumps their season record up to 4-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Fairview, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Fairview couldn't quite get it done against Montgomery Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can Fairview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
