Softball Recap: Biggs Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Biggs proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 18) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Quincy Trojans 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since April 18, 2024.

Gracie Sheppard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Arden Vines, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Bermudez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Biggs' win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Quincy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trojans beat Biggs by a score of 7-3 later that day.
