The 6-foot-10, UCLA-bound senior is rated as one of the top centers in the nation.
The T-Mobile is Dec. 29-30 in Birmingham, Ala.
Smith has been sidelined with a partially torn patellar tendon in his right knee. He'll miss another two weeks, the Seattle Times reported.
Kentwood has lost its last two games without Smith, who averaged about 24 points per game.
2. Reclassification numbers are in: The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association released classification numbers for the next two-year cycle. The most surprise was the range in 2A, which went from 513 to 1,085 schools.
3. Prairie's streak intact: The Prairie Falcons girls basketball team hasn't lost a game to a Clark County opponent since Jan. 31, 2000. Skyview was supposed to be biggest threat to the streak in recent years, but the young Falcons cruised 58-43.
Also, Lakeside beat Franklin for the first time in school history, surprising the second-ranked defending state champs 46-44. Kyle McAndrews scored 20 for the Lions.
4. Hoppes is tops in nation: Tri-Cities Prep quarterback Will Hoppes threw 10 touchdown passes in the state title game. He finished his career as the nation's all-time leading 8-man quarterback. His total yards (13,251), passing yards (10.537) and touchdowns (142) are all national records.
Top performers
Shane Moskowitz (Central Kitsap cross country): The senior placed ninth at the Foot Locker nationals, earning All-American status for the second straight year. The state champ ran the 5K course in San Diego in 15 minutes, 35 seconds, which was 17 seconds behind the winner.
Gary Bell (Kentridge basketball): The 6-2 junior guard scored 55 points but his No. 7 Chargers were upset by Auburn Riverside 93-82.
Robby Douglas (Shadle Park basketball): Douglas had 50 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in a win over Ferris.
Cody Olsen (Wahkiakum basketball): Olsen broke a school record with 42 points in a 102-62 win over Clatskanie, Ore. He also had 12 assists and five rebounds.
Alexis Olgard (Mead volleyball): The 6-5 senior was named Gatorade state player of the year. The USC-bound player led the Panthers to the state title last month. It was was her third title in four years.

Garfield's Tony Wroten, one of the top junior point guards in the nation, posted his top five college picks on Twitter. They are, in order, Syracuse, Villanova, Oregon, Grambling and Washington. ... Skyline quarterback Jake Heaps signed a scholarship agreement to play for BYU. Heaps is graduating early and heading to Provo early next year. ... Woodinville lineman Maxx Forde (6-4, 240 pounds) has committed to Washington State. His father, Brian, was a linebacker at WSU from 1985-87.
