Softball Recap: Farmington Falls Short Against Ranked Silver

Farmington faced Silver in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Farmington took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Silver. The defeat continues a trend for the Scorpions in their meetings with the Fighting Colts: they've now lost three in a row.

Ashlynn Sandoval spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Taelor Joe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Archuleta, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Farmington's loss dropped their record down to 4-3-1. As for Silver, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Farmington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-0 win against Valencia on the 21st. As for Silver, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-5 victory against Piedra Vista on the 21st.
