Baseball Recap: Sugar Valley Rural's Win Ends Ten-Game Losing Streak on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sugar Valley Rural ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Canton Warriors.

Brody Swanger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Swanger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Sugar Valley Rural: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Lincoln Breon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Sugar Valley Rural is 4-2 when Breon posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryer Martin, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Sugar Valley Rural kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.6.

Sugar Valley Rural's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9. As for Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
