Softball Game Preview: Ogemaw Heights Falcons vs. Shepherd Bluejays

The Ogemaw Heights Falcons will square off against the Shepherd Bluejays at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ogemaw Heights is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Ogemaw Heights didn't have quite enough to beat Gladwin and fell 9-8.

Aubrey Evans led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those doubles were her first of the season. Taylor Illig was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Meanwhile, Shepherd earned a 4-1 victory over Beaverton on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bluejays in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now won three in a row.

Lylah Curtiss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on MeKahna Seeley, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Shepherd hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beaverton struck out nine times.

Shepherd's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ogemaw Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Ogemaw Heights came out on top in a nail-biter against Shepherd when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 10-9. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
