Volleyball Recap: High Plains Storm vs. Dorchester Longhorns

High Plains was the 2-0 winner over Dorchester when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Storm fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, High Plains sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 21-25, 25-19.

Peyton Hofmann paced High Plains' offense, picking up six kills. Hofmann got some help from Gahvi Lesiak and her 19 assists. Halliejo Urkoski controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Savannah June was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had six aces and five digs. That's the most aces she has posted since back in October of 2024.

High Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Dorchester, the win snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 6-5 record.

Coincidentally, High Plains and Dorchester will both be playing Shelby-Rising City the next time they take the court. The Storm will head out to face the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Longhorns will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
