Softball Game Preview: Garland Owls vs. Forney Jackrabbits

Garland is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Forney is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Owls will host the Jackrabbits at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Garland's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over North Garland. The high-scoring effort was just what the Owls needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Natalie Arent made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Garland got a massive performance out of Karmen Sanders, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Sanders a new career-high. Sinijay Maxey was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Garland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 10-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Forney's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Everything went their way against Rockwall-Heath as they made off with a 15-0 win.

Garland's victory bumped their record up to 15-7-1. As for Forney, their win bumped their record up to 25-1-1.
