Basketball Recap: La Grange Skates Past Caldwell with Ease

A well-balanced attack led La Grange over Caldwell in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the La Grange Leopards blew the Caldwell Hornets out of the water with an 83-44 final score. With the Leopards ahead 49-23 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

La Grange found their leader in sophomore Brandon Mathis, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Mathis has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Kleiber, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for La Grange and bumps their season record up to 16-8. As for Caldwell, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Grange will challenge Navasota at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Navasota's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Caldwell, they will take on Giddings at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Caldwell is facing Giddings at the right time seeing as Giddings is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
