Softball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Neuqua Valley's Winning Streak

Neuqua Valley dropped their record down to 17-15 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Oswego Panthers, falling 6-0. Considering the last time the Wildcats couldn't score was back in April, the team can't take the result too hard.

Ava Drehs was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 26 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Neuqua Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tegan Spellerberg, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Oswego, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 33-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 25 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Oswego's side, the result came thanks to Jaelynn Anthony's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

As of now, neither Neuqua Valley nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
