Newton South waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Boston Latin Wolfpack as they made off with a 15-3 win. Considering the Lions have won five games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophie Nathanson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Riley Cabrera was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Schwagwer, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Newton South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Newton South's record is now 6-3. As for Boston Latin, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton South will head out to face off against Lincoln-Sudbury at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Boston Latin, they will challenge Wayland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
