Thomas Barnhart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Luke Applegate was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Clayton Colvin, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Fayetteville-Perry nor Whiteoak made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Rockets fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-5. The Rockets' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Alex Williamson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Parker Pfankuch also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Manchester pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Fayetteville-Perry, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Fayetteville-Perry's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Manchester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Fayetteville-Perry, though, as they've only averaged .225. Will they be able to contain Manchester's hitters?
Everything went Manchester's way against Fayetteville-Perry in their previous matchup on Thursday, as Manchester made off with a 14-5 win.
