Softball Recap: Berkeley Wins Going Away Against Cloverdale

With a playoff win on the line, Berkeley rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Cloverdale Eagles with a sharp 11-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellowjackets considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Mia Kaufman and Camil Babij Ross did most of the damage at the plate: Kaufman went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Babij Ross went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI. Those six RBI gave Kaufman a new career-high. Hannah Sumner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Berkeley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cloverdale only posted a batting average of .125.

Berkeley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Cloverdale, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-3.

Looking ahead, Berkeley will face off against Alhambra at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Cloverdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
