Basketball Recap: Spruce Creek Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Spruce Creek can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 34-33 to the Ocoee Knights. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Knights are ranked 17th).

Dakara Merthie was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-17 on her way to 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals for Ocoee. Kylie Holden was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.

Spruce Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Ocoee, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 24-3.

Spruce Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ocoee, they have already played their next game, a 49-40 victory against Timber Creek on the 21st.
