Recap: Savoy Cardinals vs. Forestburg Longhorns
If the Savoy Cardinals were feeling good off their 39-12 takedown of the Ector Eagles last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between Savoy and Forestburg wasn't particularly close, with Savoy falling 56-40. If Savoy hoped to take revenge for the 42-37 defeat against they when the teams met on Friday, then they were left disappointed.
Forestburg was led to victory by Lili Cisneros and Brenna Briles. Cisneros scored 16 points along with two steals, while Briles dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Briles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisen Deason, who scored two points along with six steals.
Savoy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Forestburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Savoy will head out on the road to face off against Fannindel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fannindel comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Forestburg, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Prairie Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Prairie Valley is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
