Softball Recap: Mount Vernon Gets the Win

While Mount Vernon's win against Falls Church wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Majors had just enough and edged out the Jaguars 14-12. Considering the Majors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Alannah Martinez was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Isa Erpestad, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Mount Vernon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Mount Vernon's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Falls Church, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Mount Vernon is set to challenge their familiar foe Hayfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Falls Church will take on rival Justice at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
