Volleyball Recap: Hastings Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Hastings had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the York Dukes on Thursday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-16, 25-12.

Hastings' offense was headlined by Lydia Choate and Nora Strom, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Lily Sorgenfrei and her ten assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Mayrin Torres, racking up two apiece.

Hastings didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Schuyler on the 30th. As for York, they will head out to take on Roncalli Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
