Basketball Recap: East Mountain Takes a Loss

East Mountain lost against Academy for Technology and The Classics back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The East Mountain Timberwolves fell to Academy for Technology and The Classics 38-33. The Timberwolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, East Mountain saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jodie Tillman dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Tillman also set a new season-high mark in steals with seven. Evelyn Kannolt was another key player, putting up six points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, East Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

East Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Academy for Technology and The Classics, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Mountain will challenge Jemez Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Academy for Technology and The Classics, they will take on Magdalena in a tournament on Thursday.
