Basketball Recap: Cimarron Comes Up Short

Cimarron lost against Timberlake back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cimarron Trailblazers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to the Timberlake Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (55), the Trailblazers still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Cimarron lost, don't look at Ethan Butler. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 31 points and 16 rebounds. Butler's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Avery Butler, who posted 18 points and three steals.

Cimarron has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Timberlake, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cimarron will take on Billings at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Cimarron has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matches. As for Timberlake, they will challenge Waukomis at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Waukomis will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Timberlake surely won't give up without a fight.
