Baseball Recap: Ephrata Gets the Win

Ephrata was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Cedar Crest Falcons by a score of 8-5. The victory continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Ty Custer, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Prange, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Ephrata always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedar Crest only posted an OBP of .281.

Ephrata's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Cedar Crest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Ephrata will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Hempfield at 7:00 p.m. The Black Knights will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Mountaineers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cedar Crest, they are taking a road trip to face off against J.P. McCaskey at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons are facing the Red Tornado at the right time seeing as the Red Tornado are stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
