The Whiteoak Wildcats will host the Fayetteville-Perry Rockets at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Whiteoak's offense. They lost 10-0 to Fairfield on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly ten runs.
Fairfield hit Fayetteville-Perry with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rockets fell just short of the Lions by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rockets have suffered since March 25, 2024.
Victoria Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lilly Carlier made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Ryley Kleemeyer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Fayetteville-Perry's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Whiteoak, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Whiteoak hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Fayetteville-Perry struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
