Baseball Recap: North Penn Wins Going Away Against Haverford

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Penn walked away with it. They blew past the Haverford Fords 8-1 on Friday. The Knights not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 15-8).

Jake Nunn tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Christian Barnes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ben Grattan, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

The win made it two in a row for North Penn and bumps their season record up to 17-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Haverford, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-2.

As of now, neither North Penn nor the Fords have any future games scheduled.
