Kensington Lakes - Central recap October 1, 2013

Stevenson's Dom Ferrera rumbled for the longest rushing play in Kensington Lakes - Central this season in his game against Northville last week. Ferrera's team fell to the Mustangs as he sprinted for 67 yards on the play and finished with 136 in all.

Northville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Stevenson, 48-21. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Zac Powers threw for 324 yards. He went 28-41 with 1 interception.

Danny Pocalujka was a key player and the best on defense this week as Randy Micallef's team fell to the Mustangs. The 6-foot-0 senior.

Ferrera was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 136 yards on 8 carries as the Spartans lost to Salem. Teammate Austin Petrie added to the ground attack by rushing for 125 yards.

The Cougars' Powers and Wade Morris have formed a dream team this season, leading Kensington Lakes - Central in both passing and receiving yards. Powers has thrown for 877 yards this season, while Morris, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 22 catches for 359 yards. Stevenson's C.J. Weiss leads the league in rushing yards with 352.

The Spartans' offense has scored 111 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Novi has allowed only 70 on the year.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when South Lyon East takes on Northville. Michael Lindman's team is in sixth place, while the Mustangs are in first place.

South Lyon moved up to 94 from 147 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lions were able to move up by beating the Wildcats 36-13.
