Softball Game Preview: Prestonsburg Blackcats vs. Betsy Layne Bobcats

The Prestonsburg Blackcats will head out to square off against the Betsy Layne Bobcats at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Prestonsburg is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Prestonsburg managed to slip by Magoffin County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Blackcats lost 16-10 to the Hornets on Tuesday. While the Blackcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hornets 4-0 in the first period.

Candace Allen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Hailey Cline, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Betsy Layne took on Floyd Central on Tuesday. The Bobcats came up short against the Jaguars, falling 10-2.

Prestonsburg's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Betsy Layne, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Prestonsburg couldn't quite finish off Betsy Layne when the teams last played last Monday and fell 12-10. Can the Blackcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
