Baseball Recap: Cherry Comes Up Short

Cherry was the 11-3 winner over Cloquet when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers came up short against the Lumberjacks on Thursday, falling 16-2.

Noah Asuma made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Cherry's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Cloquet, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Cherry will welcome Chisholm at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cloquet, they will venture away from home to face off against Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hilltoppers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Lumberjacks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
