Basketball Recap: Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Comes Up Short

After flying high against New Ulm Cathedral last Tuesday, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop came back down to earth. The Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds took a 76-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wabasso Rabbits on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (64), the Thunderbirds still had to take the loss.

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. As for Wabasso, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-10.

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop has already played their next matchup (against St. Mary's), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Wabasso, they will square off against Central Minnesota Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 20th.
