Baseball Recap: Camp Point Central Has No Trouble Against Augusta Southeastern

Camp Point Central won the last time they faced Augusta Southeastern and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Suns with a sharp 13-6 win. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Collin Likes and Garrett Neisen were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Likes tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Meanwhile, Neisen struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Likes got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double, while Neisen went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Neisen's first of the season.

In other batting news, Camp Point Central let Kolin Bockhold and Nate Peters run wild. Bockhold went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Peters went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Bockhold a new career-high. Caleb Petersen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Camp Point Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Camp Point Central's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Augusta Southeastern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.
