It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but King ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Carroll Tigers. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.

Grant Hoogland made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, King let Abel Arriola and Aidan Reyes run wild. Arriola went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Reyes went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs Reyes has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alex Alejandro, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for King and bumps their season record up to 10-16-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Carroll, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.

King will have a chance to go back-to-back against Carroll: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
