Basketball Recap: Union County Yellowjackets vs. Broome Centurions
Union County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Broome Centurions, falling 53-30. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-44 back in January.
Broome found their leader in sophomore Kourtney Wofford, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Wofford is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 17 games she's played. Dakota Mitchell was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Union County's record is now 8-13. As for Broome, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will head out to challenge Chapman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapman will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Union County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Broome, they will venture away from home to square off against Greer Middle College at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Broome has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
