Football Game Preview: Mar Vista Mariners vs. Coronado Islanders + How To Watch

The Mar Vista Mariners will head out on the road to challenge the Coronado Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mar Vista played against San Diego on Friday and lost via forfeit.

Last Friday, Coronado took a blow against Mission Bay, falling 49-14. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 637th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 270th).

Mar Vista will have to contain Chase Jenkins as he made an impact in Coronado's last game. He rushed for 56 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 72 receiving yards. Reese Pagon also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Mar Vista and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Mar Vista was dealt a bruising 51-8 defeat at the hands of Coronado when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Mariners, Rodolfo Sanchez (who rushed for 62 yards and four scores on only eight carries, and also threw for 116 yards on only ten passes) won't be suiting up this time.
