Softball Recap: Live Oak Has No Trouble Against East Ascension

Live Oak lost a heartbreaker the last time they played East Ascension, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. Live Oak blew past East Ascension 13-4 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Spartans on March 6th, they had to take a 12-10 loss.

Halle Maxwell was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Live Oak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Ascension only posted a batting average of .222.

The win made it two in a row for Live Oak and bumps their season record up to 12-11. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 9.5 runs. As for East Ascension, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Live Oak will head out to take on Catholic of Pointe Coupee at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for East Ascension, they will venture away from home to square off against Prairieville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairieville has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something East Ascension will no doubt try to take advantage of.
