Baseball Recap: Charlestown Comes Up Short

Charlestown was the 10-2 winner over Salem when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1 on Monday.

Charlestown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lex Rose, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Charlestown dropped their record down to 14-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlestown will face off against Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Salem, they will square off against Henryville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
