Basketball Recap: Malik Douglas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Legacy Academy over Norfolk Collegiate

Legacy Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks, falling 79-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (58), Legacy Academy still had to take the loss.

Legacy Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Malik Douglas, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 19 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last three games he's played. Anderson Allen was another key player, putting up nine points.

Norfolk Collegiate found their leader in sophomore Gavin Wright, who went 8-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and three steals. Those 30 points gave Wright a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Mills, who posted 12 points.

Legacy Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Norfolk Collegiate, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Legacy Academy will head out to challenge TPLS Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Norfolk Collegiate does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
