St. Brendan takes loss despite strong efforts from Jaden Castro and Sofia Toro

Recap: St. Brendan Sabres vs. Doral Academy Firebirds

After flying high against the Marathon Dolphins last Saturday, the St. Brendan Sabres came back down to earth. St. Brendan took a serious blow against Doral Academy on Tuesday, falling 96-31. St. Brendan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 60-20.

Despite the loss, St. Brendan had strong showings from Sofia Toro, who scored 12 points, and Jaden Castro, who scored eight points.

Doral Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emily Gamon led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Gamon scored 15 or more points. Victoria Valle was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten assists.

St. Brendan's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Doral Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Brendan will take on Keys Gate at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keys Gate is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Doral Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Palmer Trinity at 7:30 p.m. Palmer Trinity will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Doral Academy is ranked 22nd).
