Basketball Game Preview: Jasper County Hurricanes vs. Salem Seminoles

Having just played yesterday, the Jasper County Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Salem Seminoles at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jasper County has three straight wins, Salem has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Jasper County against Towers as the team secured a 66-36 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Hurricanes just coasted through the last quarter.

Meanwhile, Salem suffered their closest loss since December 8, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of Western Albemarle by a score of 46-43. While losing is never fun, the Seminoles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 489th in Georgia, while the Warriors are ranked 68th in Virginia).

Jasper County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.
