Volleyball Recap: Alexis Witzel Key Part of Team Effort in Raiders Win + How To Watch

Burney lost to Tulelake back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Raiders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Honkers, sneaking past 2-1.

Burney had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-14, 16-14.

Burney got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexis Witzel out in front who had 38 digs and six kills. Witzel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Hawkins, who had 18 digs, nine kills, and two aces.

Burney's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Tulelake, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-8.

Burney has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Butte Valley on the 13th. As for Tulelake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Hayfork on the 13th.
