Softball Recap: Northern Cambria Takes a Loss

Northern Cambria dropped their record down to 5-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Penns Manor Comets, falling 13-1. The Colts were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Comets' pitcher proved too tough.

Northern Cambria saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Lubert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Lubert is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

As for Penns Manor, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-2. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Penns Manor's side, Allie Rhea was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over 4.2 innings pitched. Rhea was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kadence Olbert was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Joss Bennet, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northern Cambria will host Conemaugh Township at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Colts are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Penns Manor, they will welcome West Shamokin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
