Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Warriors vs. Centerville Elks

Wayne is 2-8 against Centerville since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wayne Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Centerville Elks at 7:30 p.m. Wayne has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Wayne is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Monday with ease, bagging a 62-18 victory over Trotwood-Madison. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Rams are ranked 590th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Centerville lost to Springfield at home by a 68-52 margin on Monday. The Elks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Centerville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Wayne, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8.

Wayne came up short against Centerville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 59-48. Can Wayne avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
