Basketball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

If Newport was feeling good fresh off their 68-46 takedown of Newfound Regional last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Newport Tigers had to suffer through an 87-53 loss at the hands of the Mascoma Royals. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since January 24, 2024.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Mascoma, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

While Newport had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Friday.
