Greeneview is a perfect 10-0 against Catholic Central since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Rams will challenge the Irish at 11:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greeneview has five straight wins, Catholic Central has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Greeneview gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Northeastern 3-2. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.
Ryver Sweet made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Sweet wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Reynolds, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Greeneview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Catholic Central's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-0 to Cedarville, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Greeneview pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Catholic Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Catholic Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Greeneview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. It's a different story for Catholic Central, though, as they've only averaged .298. Will they be able to contain Greeneview's hitters?
Everything went Greeneview's way against Catholic Central in their previous matchup on Wednesday, as Greeneview made off with a 22-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
