Boyd-Buchanan and Chattanooga Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Buccaneers will be playing at home against the Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Boyd-Buchanan 4.1, Chattanooga Christian 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Boyd-Buchanan is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since April 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Silverdale Academy by a score of 3-1. The Buccaneers have struggled against the Seahawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Kinley Ervin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Boyd-Buchanan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cailyn Butler, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Chattanooga Christian came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Bears by a score of 7-3. That's two games straight that the Chargers have won by exactly four runs.
The team relied heavily on Nyla Halfacre, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Neely Fillman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases.
Chattanooga Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in ten consecutive matchups.
Chattanooga Christian pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Boyd-Buchanan, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-7.
Boyd-Buchanan's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Buccaneers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Chattanooga Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Boyd-Buchanan continue to outrun the ball?
Boyd-Buchanan came up short against Chattanooga Christian in their previous matchup last Friday, falling 10-5. Will the Buccaneers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
