Basketball Recap: Wellington Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Paige Hock and Brookelyn Jones

Wellington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They took a hard 56-38 fall against the Greeley Central Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-30 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Wellington had strong showings from Brookelyn Jones, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points and six boards, and Paige Hock, who posted five points and ten rebounds. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last ten games she's played.

Madison Sepeda continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Greeley Central, putting up 21 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals. That's the most steals Sepeda has posted since back in February of 2024. Aaniya Davis was another key player, going 6-for-12 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Wellington's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Greeley Central, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Wellington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 38-32 win against Liberty Common on the 13th. As for Greeley Central, they have also already played their next game, a 65-31 defeat against Timnath on the 13th.
