The Parkland Trojans will face off against the Whitehall Zephyrs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Whitehall will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Parkland extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Trojans blew past Allentown Central Catholic 19-1.
Allison Hunsberger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hunsberger was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amelia Dawson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Pinkham, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Parkland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Whitehall made easy work of William Allen on Tuesday and carried off a 16-1 win. The Zephyrs haven't had any issues with the Canaries recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Josie Shultz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Bella Muth was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Whitehall pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Parkland, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Parkland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .505. However, it's not like Whitehall struggles in that department as they've averaged .476. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
