Softball Recap: Eastchester Gets the Win

Eastchester had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the John Jay Wolves 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won six in a row.

Sabrina Cosgrove spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 15 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Eastchester let Sophia Gutirrez and Angelina Recine run wild. Gutirrez went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Recine went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Gutirrez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Peduto, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Eastchester's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for John Jay, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-11.

As of now, neither Eastchester nor the Wolves have any future games scheduled.
