Basketball Recap: St. Francis Indian Comes Up Short

St. Francis Indian lost against Pine Ridge back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The St. Francis Indian Warriors lost to the Pine Ridge Thorpes on the road by a 68-52 margin. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why St. Francis Indian lost, don't look at Ty Fast Horse-Valandra. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Spotted Tail, who scored four points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, St. Francis Indian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Marvin Richard Lll continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pine Ridge, going 10 for 19 en route to 29 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Richard Lll has scored at least a third of Pine Ridge's points. Anthony Steele also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

St. Francis Indian now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Pine Ridge, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-6.

St. Francis Indian will take on Todd County at 6:30 p.m. on January 18th. St. Francis Indian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season. Pine Ridge has already played their next matchup, a 69-52 victory against Hot Springs on the 10th.
