Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Takes a Loss

Cristo Rey lost against Archbishop Carroll back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cristo Rey Monarchs took a blow against the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs, falling 77-21. The Monarchs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-8.

Archbishop Carroll's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Aponte, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Christian Carreras, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Cristo Rey and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Archbishop Carroll, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Cristo Rey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 101-20 defeat against Highlands Christian on the 17th. As for Archbishop Carroll, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-40 victory against BridgePrep Village Green on the 15th.
