Basketball Recap: Independence Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Independence extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Myra Yazzie. The Patriots simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Sierra Linda Bulldogs 59-23 for which the team can thank Yazzie, who posted 21 points. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Independence's points.

Another player making a difference was Mahawa Sherrif, who put up 16 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Independence's record is now 12-6. As for Sierra Linda, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

As of now, neither Independence nor Sierra Linda have any future games scheduled.
