League recap: Kissler powers Middle Park with hot hitting week

Coltan Kissler was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .611 average, one home run and nine RBIs. Middle Park compiled a record of 3-0 in that time.

Having lost 12 games in a row, Clear Creek/Gilpin County is mired in the league's worst slump. The Golddiggers lost another game last week, including a 24-2 defeat against Middle Park.

Clear Creek/Gilpin County's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing zero hits and zero walks to lead the league in both categories. The Golddiggers have given up a mere 18 hits on the year in addition to compiling 18 strikeouts. Eric Castillo is the leader in that category with 11 Ks on the season.

The Panthers's 91 hits this week were the most in the league, adding to their season total of 218, best of any team. Middle Park is led by Cort Brennan, who has 33 hits this year.

Brennan led the league with 14 hits this week for the Panthers. His 33 hits for the year are fifth in the league, and he boasts a .589 batting average.



Tyler Franek went 4-5 as Middle Park defeated Clear Creek/Gilpin County 24-2 on May 1, 2012. He rounded out his day with two runs batted in and four runs scored.

Nick Garcia was an RBI machine on May 1, 2012, as he knocked in four runs during Bennett's 6-2 win over Sheridan.
